The 2013 El Puntido is produced from the vineyard planted around the winery that names the wine, a large 25 hectare plot of Tempranillo. Cropped from a cold and wet vintage, it has a floral character not often seen in these wines. It's amazing to see how well some of the wines from such a challenging vintage are turning out, with purity and freshness, keeping the identity but with a perfume that is not that common. Honestly, I prefer this to the warmer and riper years. As with all of the 2013s, the key was sorting and declassifying the grapes that didn't achieve the level, and volumes for all wines were smaller. Some 35,000 bottles produced.
