We make our Brut Nature using the typical grape varieties of the county, Macabeo and Parellada, with a minimum ageing period of 18 months. It presents itself for tasting as a young wine, easy to savour but with a strong personality. Its appearance expresses some of its relative youth: straw yellow in colour with greenish tones, the bubbles form a persistent crown in the glass. Fruity on the nose, reminiscent of white fruits (pineapple and pear), with a refined, subtle aroma. The impression it gives evokes sensuality and enthusiasm. www.cavandreu.com

The non-vintage Brut Nature Reserva has a tightly wound bouquet with Granny Smith apple and limestone notes that emerge with aeration. The palate is understated on the entry but opens nicely with touches of bitter lemon, lime zest and pink grapefruit. The finish is taut and perhaps lacking a little persistency. However, overall this is a commendable, well-made Cava. Drink now.
