The textbook red 2020 Mauro comes from a cooler year with freshness and balance. It's powerful and ripe with 14.5% alcohol and a medium to full-bodied palate that reveals a juicy and creamy wine with very good balance and drinkability. It was produced with Tinto Fino/Tempranillo and 15% between Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, and it fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in barrels and foudres of different ages for 15 months. This is a very drinkable vintage of Mauro with very good balance and stuffing and, therefore, aging potential in bottle. 300,000 bottles produced and bottled in one single lot in April 2022.
Mauro has 100 hectares of vines averaging 20 years of age, mostly in Tudela de Duero Traspinedo and other villages of Ribera del Duero. Since 2017, they have planted more Cabernet Sauvignon at 800+ meters in altitude to bring acidity to their blends. They farm organically and also apply biodynamics in some vineyards. Average production is 350,000 bottles per year.
