Laut der 2011er-Ausgabe des PENIN-Weinführers ist der Mauro V. S. einer der besten Weine im oberen Preissegment. Neben Vega Sicilia, Pingus und Contador ein super Preis- /Qualitätsverhältnis.
Ein blendender Festtagstropfen!
Sehr komplexe Nase nach schwarzen Beeren. Am Gaumen reife, schwarze Früchte, Mineralien, Mokka und Röstaromen. Weiches, reifes Tannin mit einem vielschichtigen, lange anhaltenden Abgang. Ein äusserst wunderbarer Wein. Ein Wein von Mariano Garcia.

The 2021 VS follows the same path as the rest of the 2021s, with elegance, perfume and purity, but it has more depth than the regular Mauro and a little more concentration and tannins but with the same terrific balance and harmony that should mean a long and positive development in bottle. It's precise and combines power with elegance like few vintages before (1996, 2001, 2018), and it has integrated oak after 26 months in French oak barrels. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2024.
There is no major news at Mauro other than the development of their projects in Rioja and Bierzo. In the Duero zone, they have 90 hectares of vines in Tudela de Duero and Traspinedo. The 2021s are floral and elegant like no vintage before. Superb! Production averages 350,000 bottles.
